(Busy booth at Horning's) Mountain Air Batik is a small batik company based out of Portland, Or. We strive to create the highest quality batik art and batik clothing possible. Each batik is hand drawn, waxed and outlined with a tjanting tool. It is then hand painted with with low impact dyes, re-waxed and re-dyed until the batik is complete. The shirt is finally dyed it's final color. After several rinses the shirt is then put into boiling water to remove the wax and reveal the finished batik. We do not use stamps, screens or stencils.
We take great pride in what we do and WILL NOT reproduce batiks made by other artists. The Batik art we create is inspired by Ancient-present culture, nature, Sacred Geometry, etc... We do lots of custom work. We are not a wholesale batik company (although, we have been known to do a wholesale order every now and then). Quality is our number one priority.
Mountain Air Batik was formed in 2001 by friends turned partners B. French and M. Garcia. All of our work is original from our heads and hearts to you!

Our work can be seen throughout the Northwest at various shows, music festivals and retailers. It can also be purchased online through many of our online distributors.
